Sports betting

What is a sports betting system?

A system is a mechanical rule that produces bets without you deciding anything: back the home side in a defined situation, take the under when a condition holds, and so on.

The appeal is that it removes emotion. The danger is that a rule fitted to old results will keep firing long after the market has caught up with it.

Why old data lies

Test enough rules against enough history and some of them will look brilliant by pure chance. That is arithmetic, not a discovery.

Any rule found by searching should be treated as suspect until it earns money on games that had not been played when the rule was written. That is the only test that means anything.

Three checks

Does the rule have a reason behind it that you could explain to somebody who does not bet? Rules with a mechanism survive longer than rules with a correlation.

How many bets is the record built on? Fifty is noise. A few hundred starts to be information.

Does the edge survive the price you can actually get? A system that needs the best number in the market and you are betting at one book is a system that does not exist for you.

Systems that are sold to you

Anything sold with a guaranteed hit rate is selling the record, not the method. A genuine edge is worth more to its owner than a subscription is.

The tell is always the missing losers. Our own picks archive keeps every position posted, and the aggregate is published as a summary rather than as a highlight reel.
