Square fits, side panels do not
A 7x7 grid is nearly square and drops into a portrait viewport without cropping. Sugar Rush and Fruit Party both do exactly that and both have comfortable controls to go with it.
Reactoonz runs the same 7x7 shape and forces the rotation, because the charge meters live in a side panel that needs the width. Fold that panel under the grid and portrait would work. Nobody has.
Load times are good here
Median 1.9 seconds. Cluster grids are drawn rather than streamed and there are no reel strips to fetch. The exception is Jammin Jars at 4.1 seconds, which streams its soundtrack separately and wants the phone sideways besides.
